Here is a little about me...
Whilst originally from the Eastern Cape, South Africa I am currently living in Cape Town with my family and practicing as a professional artist. My subject matter ranges from impressionist landscapes to interpretative abstracts – brought to life with considered mark-making and vibrant colour to achieve visually appealing and evocative art.
Working predominantly in oils, I adore the thick, buttery texture and versatility that this traditional medium offers, and I lean into my background of psychology to create expressive, suggestive and light contrasting pieces with hidden layers of depth.

In both my impressionist landscape paintings (oil) as well as in my more abstract works (mixed medium using acrylic paint and oil pastels) each piece is crafted through application of thick buttery paint as well as scraping back and exposing hidden layers and depths. Well-considered brushstrokes then bring texture, clarity and representation to my pieces and balance the bright, impressionist energy.
Drawing on my extensive background in psychology and complex people development work, my work is inspired by the complexity and interwoven spiderwebs of human connection and emotion. No one piece is fully representational, because emotions are not. Indeed nothing is what it seems: there are layers upon layers of the world and one’s own perception of the world around us. The viewer is invited to scratch beneath the first layer to really get a true, authentic sense of what is going on.
Each piece is messy yet considered, full of possibility and opportunities for discovery. More than meets the eye…seeing and feeling something new every time one looks at it. What is experienced each time is different for each person, open to their own interpretation.
